Given today's auto design, I'd say that truck shows Studebaker was STILL ahead of its time when it comes to style.

This is the first I am hearing about a Van version being built!

In 1966 when my Cousin and I toured the Plant 8 Parts Warehouse, I sat in that Truck that was part of the Stude. Corp. Vehicle Collection stored there, and could not help but notice the Tag on the Steering Wheel that said: "DO NOT DRIVE! Steering components welded."

I guess it would make a good Drag racer!

There was a another similar Studebaker version for 1963-1964. It was also a cab forward pickup, but the windshield sloped back, not forward. Studebaker had a quarter scale model of this truck that, last that I knew, was owned by Asa Hall. I do not know who owns the model now.

Reduces glare. It's not aerodynamic, but these trucks weren't supposed to be going fast - local delivery and all.

I was nowhere near Plant 8 in 1966, therefore I can't confirm what you saw.

We are referring to the drawing of the Van prototype shown in the February, 1983 Turning Wheels with the Westinghouse name and logos on it.

Those folks who have visited the Stude Nat'l Museum have seen one of these truck designs on the lower level of the museum. It's very impressive. I'm disappointed that it never came to fruition.
