    Will some of you please relay your experiences using non-Studebaker larger valves in champ flatheads? I have close to FH 6 engines I am rebuilding for various projects, and would like some other opinions.

    I have never heard of anyone trying that! I would think the extra fuel and air could not be used in that small engine, so it would be excess, non usable waste.

    The only person I know of who would know, would be Bill Cathcart. Contact him though his Turning Wheels ads.

      Know BIll well. Making an engine breath better, especially when you have siameesed ports is always an improvement, and does not always result in lost economy. It is all a balance.

        Ben,

        I had my Champion 6 rebuilt by someone who claims to do around 20 Studebaker motors per year, and he used larger valves in mine. I haven't installed or run the engine yet, but forum member Bunzard was very happy with a V8 that this rebuilder did for him. Here's his contact info:
