G'day Blokes,
a big thank you has to go out to Richard Atkinson from Wiltshire for obtaining a place for the UK Studebaker club in this years premiere UK Classic car show at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham UK.
It's a Friday through Sunday event and requires a bit of commitment to get it all happening.

Bill Baker - UK club President and I set up Wednesday to avoid the bun fight of Thursday set up, as we live around 15 to 25 miles away and left a spot for Richard to show off his beautifully restored 1956 Golden Hawk.

The theme of this years event is family cars. So rather than set a family Commanders together we have run with the family use of the cars instead.

Bill has the Australian delivered 1923 Light 6 which he courted his wife in at Dubbo New South Wales back in the mid 60's. He has owned it ever since.

Richard's dad had a 56 Golden Hawk here in England back in the early 60's that Richard used to ride around in.

We were going to put our Australian assembled 37 Dictator in on the stand which was our wedding car back home in Melbourne and brought both our children home from the hospital here in the UK, but I deferred to our 1939 Commander by Langenthal of Switzerland to spice the stand up a bit more. It does get used as the family car and has had the saddest of all funeral duties to do in its time. Our kids love riding in it with the hood down.

Hopefully if I can work out how to work my phone and the internet and picture services we can get a few more pictures up when Richard gets set up and the show is under way. we have left him half the stand for his Hawk, so I think he will be able to set up as a whopper of a show stopper.

HooRoo

And once your NEC show is over, you can join us the NEXT weekend in Chicago at the MCACN show; right??!

Wow, that '39 Commander is incredible! I've never seen one like that.
Good luck with your show. It'll be a big success I'm sure.
All the best.

Here are a few pics now that we are set up.
Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers is on the stage almost every other hour.

There have been a few surprise Studebaker owners go past and some club members drop in for a chat.

It was very busy today. One of our club members, Andy and Therese Lerry has a Belgian assembled 58 Golden Hawk and had his 66 Maserati on display as well. It's a stunning car and he has been spending a lot of time trying to get his Golden Hawk with sunroof and factory leather interior up to an excellent reliable state.

Final day tomorrow before we all pack up and go home.
