  • Lark name gone from "Most" 1964's

While these Posts truly are "Related" to Richard Quinn's '64 Showroom Challenger/Commander Banner post, they really are NOT about them.

Off Topic Posts from another string:

ONLY the stripped down "Standard" called a "Challenger" in '64, really was a Lark, and identified as such.

It also happened in the Dealer showroom "Book", but not in Brochures and most other advertising.

The Dealer Council (not management) was so enamored with the Lark name (who wouldn't be after the relatively good business since 1959) that they insisted it be retained in some form or fashion when previewing the 1964 line.

So management tacked "Lark" monikers on literature and everything to assuage them...but the closest things to the Lark name on a car were the two little Lark emblems on Challenger "C" pillars. BP

I WISH we had minutes from some of those Dealer Council Meetings to know which is correct, which group of them won?
Your take on this is in Direct conflict with, (opposite of) mine.

Since the Lark name all but completely went away in '64, and partially did in '63 (only on Cruisers), I think Frank Afton and his like thinking Dealers on the "Council" won this one.

Too bad none of them are alive to tell the story.

    Look Ma, no "LARK" nameplate!
