After Peter Gillespie and his friends left from the Dartmouth/New Bedford, Mass. area, they headed north to Boston where they toured the U.S.S. Constitution, recently overhauled. From there, it was north to Bangor, Maine for the night. As they headed to the U.S.-Canada border at Calais, ME, they rode past the "Studebaker Shrine" at the Lord Well Drilling Co. in Alexander, ME. I had alerted Peter to this attraction beside the Route 9, "The Airline Highway", so they stopped for a look at the old M16 truck with a well drilling rig sitting high on a pole. Not many people get to that far corner of Maine, but the truck is always good for a smile. The Bangor to Calais stretch of Route 9 is a great, scenic 2-lane road.

They did get to St. John, New Brunswick and boarded the ferry across the Bay of Fundy to Digby, Nova Scotia. I think they are headed for Halifax, then across the top of Nova Scotia and back west across Canada and the U.S. If you want to learn more about their round-the-world motorcycle tour, see their blog at: http://fleischer.co.za/
