In the past I have noted a considerable amount of interest in Studebaker dealerships including names, locations and photos. I have found that the best source for this information is to be found in the pages of the Studebaker News dealer newspapers. These were generally filled with information on dealer activities and promotions as well as anniversaries and new dealer signings. In addition the company used it to promote contests among salesmen and other factory activities regarding introductions etc. I have issues going back to 1912 and have recently began sorting out duplicates and indexing what is to be found in each issue. I do not expect to finish this in my lifetime. In any event I have decided to put the duplicates on ebay to sell and in doing so I try to list all the dealers mentioned in that particular issue as well as other pertinent information. You may wish to check out the one now running at:
I am not certain if any, all or none of the dealers mentioned in this particular issue are on the dealer list that was being prepared but thought I would pass it along in case someone wanted to follow-up on this and add them to whatever listing is on-going. I use these newspapers extensively for research on model introductions and other timely Studebaker topics. For example the photo I posted of the State of Maine police cars and the information included with it came from The News. While issues of The News fairly rare they do show up from time to time and I believe they are far superior to sales literature in the information they provide, and they can often be purchased for much less.
I knew by putting "adults only" in the subject Matthew would be on this thread in one big hurry!
