Well obviously the I.D. plate and title were from a 1963 "S" 6 Cyl. F2 Standard 2dr. Sedan, (the bare bones fleet special with the lightweight frame) but I don't see how it matters if the car is a 64!

I would check the body tag under the hood to see what the car is, and look on the bottom of the lower flange of the rear crossmember, in the center for the frame serial number.

The 2S, is your state's code for vehicle type: car, truck, trailer etc. Sounds like a Calif. code.

I bought a 64-65 parts car awhile ago that someone had installed a 63 vin tag and title to. The serial # on the pillar plate is 63S20693. The title lists the "type" as :2S,year as 63, and the model as:SF2.
Any guesses what this was? My guess is a 2 door sedan? I recently refound the title when doing some cleaning and got curious again.TIA.

Rich, Indiana used similar codes, and probably still does. I believe there's a nationwide association of licensing officials, although the name escapes me. Not all states belong, as I recall, but a lot of 'em do.

I know the 2S (2-door sedan) and 2H (2-door hardtop) codes well, as my '89 Ford Escort, despite being a two-door hatchback, was considered by the state of Indiana to be a two-door sedan. The '80 Dodge Aspen coupe I once owned was considered a 2H, even though it was obviously a pillared coupe. I guess they saw the frameless door glass and decided to go with that.
