  • Body / Glass: Removing window trim

I am getting ready for a repaint on my 51 Commander. The plan is to strip to bare metal. The windows will be coming out as well as all trim. I have read the shop manual and I have a good understanding on how to take things apart so that I can end up with a better quality paint job.

one area wher I am stuck is the side window trim. I believe it is called the reveal molding. How does one remove it without destroying it? If I do screw up and destroy it, where might I find replacement?

It just slides on. Kind of a pinch with the curve of the window frame holding it on.

There are clips that hold it on. The trim just pulls off, and you may have a few rusty/broken clips to replace when you reinstall.

If you need clips for this task or other trim, I have used this sit with good results: http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/default.asp
