R2 Avanti Alternator

Looking for an R2 Avanti alternator, tried Avanti owners forum but continue to get security notice. Are others having trouble with Avanti forum? In any case if anyone knows of an alternator, please let me know and does if have to be specifically for an R2 or will an R1 alternator work on an R2 car? Ken, Deltaville, Va.

As far as I know, the altenators are the same for R1 and R2.

SI lists several Avanti alternator parts that are unique to R2 Alternator, such as the rotor. That suggests higher output, if so what difference does that make? Ken

It is odd that SI lists separate parts for R2. According to parts book, they have same part number. R3, R4 do have different part number. As near as I can tell, the only difference between R1, R2 and R3,R4 is that the latter does not have pulley. All other alternator parts are the same.

R3 and R4 used a larger pulley to slow down the alternator so it wouldn't throw it's windings.
