Avanti Brake Booster

Does anybody know how to test a brake booster for an avanti? I suspect mine might be going bad or maybe it already is.

Press on the pedal with your foot, just as you were to apply the brakes. Then start the car. If the pedal drops down about an inch, the booster is okay.

Of course, you need to make sure that there are no vacuum leaks and that the check valve is good, in order for that test to be effective.
