This car has been SOLD and is going to New Zealand.
I bought this car off of ebay over a dozen plus years ago.
Put my touches on it as a mechanic.
It was my daily driver for a while.
I have garage kept it since it came under my care.
It has a 1964 Stude 289 2 barrel engine, Flight O Matic transmission and Twin Traction differential.
My upholsterer redid the sliding roof material.
Nice blue and silver interior. It also has a working am fm radio.
White paint is an older job that has some chips but still shines and is presentable.
Since most if not all of these photos were taken, I have touched up many of the chips and the car looks much better.
Front disc brakes and dual circuit master cylinder have been added to the car.
Pretty rust free car except some bubbling in the left front fender that has not gotten any worse in the time I've owned it.
Speedometer, gauges, horn and heater all work. The clock will work after some driving on a warm day.
The car is in good mechanical condition and I would feel comfortable driving it any distance.
These cars are quite rare maybe only 50 or so survived.
The Skytops were built between 1961 and 1963.
This is a time capsule car that has never been restored, but has been regularly maintained as needed.
If seriously interested contact me with short note, a phone number and best time to call.
I'll be happy to discuss the car and answer any questions.
I have more photos I can send by email.
I'm looking to find it a good home with a serious Studebaker lover.
I just hardly drive it anymore.
Asking $9.000 or best offer.
Please send me a personal message to this site or,
I can be reached at goodkarmechanic at yahoo.com
More photos available on request.

Did that car belong to Will Gish at one time?

I don't know who that is. I've had it since around 2003.
I've seen that ad before and wondered at first...but I don't think my car has a hole cut in the floor for a 4 speed shifter and I don't think it ever had an A/C unit in it.
The guy I bought it from was in San Francisco.
There is a sticker on the windshield from El Camino College 70-71 on the windshield which is in SoCal so who knows...If they could only talk.

Very nice car. I like 1961s, hardtops and Skytops. Your car is very similar to the 1961 Lark VIII Skytop hardtop that I owned for nine years, except mine was red.

Yep El Camino College is in SOUTHERN CALIF. alright, and the Sky Top COULD have been Will's.

If it were not in it's own pseudo "Town" & Zip Code, it would be in Gardena, CA.
I graduated from there! :)

Nice Skytop! Even nicer that it is a hardtop and a 2-door! I like the upgrades on the car and wish you the best of luck selling. This is certainly a car that needs to be preserved.

I'd say some of those pictures were taken in Mariposa, Ca. That explains the header "Near Yosemite." But you're in San Anselmo?

I've reduced the price to $11,000. Looking for a good home for her, hopefully in a garage.
Interested parties, please contact me through the forum messaging system. Thanks.

Did you put the 62 Daytona dash in it, or was it like that when you bought it? If you see my 61, It looks great with the wood grain dash and radio shroud.

This is a screaming deal for this car, I don't see how anyone could buy a rough one and get it to this shape for that money. And this one is ready to roll!

Sixty-one Lark hardtops are seldom seen. One of the most unique Skytops out there.

I have this old pic that HAS to be the same Car in San Francisco:
67887 All but the '64 Wheel Covers. They sure DO look good on it though!
I like the 1956 Black on Yellow Calif. plates, registered as Year of Mfg. with a '61 Sticker.

UPDATE: OH MY GOSH! THIS Photo is from 06/10/1999!!!!!! Man time really DOES fly!
That was only a year after Boeing moved me up here in the Northwest from the South Bay Area and Northrop Aircraft, where I graduated from El Camino College!

And, 1961 is the Year I graduated from Hawthorne High!

It is, I have the 64 wheel covers. I should put them up for sale as they are not being used either.

Did you read Post #3 Craig?
If it is IT, the A/C, Avanti Engine, 4 Speed Floor Shift and the BIG one, the BLACK Interior etc. were removed before the San Francisco owner got it. ;)

However, I did read that Post #7 from Scott Rogers in the old post you linked to that said the Engine had been pulled, so it is "Possible' that Will put it all back to original before he sold it or the next owner did.
Interesting Stude. History, as someone here said: "if ONLY they could Talk! :)

The interior was like this when i bought it. One thing I did was I put some wood blocks under the front seat rails to raise it an inch and a half higher.
