  • 1951 Automatic drive help and parts find

I finally am officially working on the 51 Commander to get it to driver stage and work on it as I drive her. May have found the problem with the transmission. I was getting ready to adjust the throttle control linkage(0312-40, 0312-41) underneath and found it to be missing(pg 180, 51-54 Chassis parts catalog) So does anyone have the linkage, ball joint, and connectors for this? The previous owner put a large bolt through the brace to hold things together.

You might get some help from Chuck Tubins, he's from the Portland area.

You might also check with Roy Valdez; he's parted out many '50-'51 cars.

0312-40 >530436 ROD, Accelerator to Transmission (Before '51 Serial number: 8133626)
0312-40> 531058 ROD, on and After above serial on '51 & '52 Commander with Automatic Drive.

          0312-41> 527990 Ball Joint '51 & '52 All with Automatic Drive.

These are FUEL System Parts listed on Pg. 78 in the Fuel Section.
A Better Picture of a COMPLETE '51 setup is on on Pg. 48 in the FUEL Section.

The '53-'55 Rods and all linkage ARE completely different.

Chuck rebuilds transmissions internally, I doubt he would have any 1951 Commander external Parts, I guess it never hurts to try.
I would PM you Chuck's number, but he does not show up in my 2015 SDC Roster.

I think our "Texas Rebel" Barry Hackney, may be a better choice.
          See your PM.

How hard would be to make these parts? With no parts manual at hand, I am guessing these are simply quarter-inch or 3/16" round stock, with threaded ends and clevises on them? And bent to a particular shape? Are there any parts cars yet at Chuck Naugle's place that might yield up a set of these?

I actually purchased some material to try to make a throttle rod. I am going to try and fabricate one Saturaday.
