Would rear seats from a 1980 Avanti fit in my 1963 Avanti?

    Thanks.

Yes, no problem, although the rear seat passengers will be sitting a bit 'lower' in the car than they would on the original '63 Avanti rear seat.

If it's the same as the rear seat in my '78, don't worry about sitting lower. The cushion is deeper (front to back) so there is even less leg room than the original. I can't imagine anyone larger than an elf actually sitting in the back seat.

The reason it sits lower was due to the need to give more headroom to cars with a power moonroof without bottoming out on the floor. Avanti Motors became the first automaker to use a product called pneumacel (not sure of the spelling). It does away with coil springs in the seat base and weighs much less than the original design. I installed a seat base and seat back in my '70 that were from a later Avanti...they're feather light in comparison to the original seats and work great.

When you look at the inside of the seat it looks like strings of spaghetti.
