Looks really good. I especially like the steering wheel/column set up.

Looking good there! Lots of remedial metal work.

        Thanks!
You don't happen to have any extra 1939 hood chrome do you? I need the drivers side that goes on the hood itself. Mine is cracked and twisted.

No but I may have given Ken Fedor in middle michigan an extra hood with some on it when I sold him the 39 commander.

I have a glove box interior in condition which is only good enough to use as a pattern. I may be able to make you a drawing to build one from.

I let my pin striper get a little creative on the gauge faces. The speedo is too far gone to work so we decided to make it a little different.
Hopefully one day I will run a cross a new mechanism and will be able to swap it out. The Gas has an in line RUNTZ 12v to 6v reducer and temp and oil are manual and work fine however I'm a little worried that the temp of the Hemi will exceed the gauge capability and it will appear pegged. I'm going to do a hot water test with the wife's kitchen thermometer. At least I can have an idea of what 195 will look like on the gauge before it goes in the car.

Unique gauges for sure. The speedometer will take some getting used to, but after that it will be like me driving with a tach.

I got the dash and steering column back from Paint friday evening and I waited as long as could to put it all together. I'm loving the color.

Nice and clean unified look. No modern barbs that don't look like they belong.

Its been slow going but Ive managed to get a little done in the Texas Heat. The dash is in and I've started the wiring and cleaning floors, roof and inside the doors.

Good fun! I like your wheel covers. I was very torn between the cool look of a vintage wheel cover and the lightness of the new alloy wheels.

                        Thanks!
These are just the cheap re-pop Hollywood Flipper caps from the 40's.
The are on stock GM 15x7 rally wheels. (Disc Brake clearance)
Eventually I will get pair of original ones but the wheel fitment is a bit of a hassle.

He gang, its been a while since I posted, Had a few other things going with my other 2 cars but I have been plugging away on super boring details that don't make for very good photos. Front end aliments, packing wheel bearings, bleeding brakes, floor paint and insulation, making transmission cooling lines, fitting the inner fenders around the MMII front end, radiator brackets and hoses. But all that stuff has added up to IT RUNS!
I guess it has a new birthday now. Sept 16 was the day this car moved under its own power for the first time in about 30 to 40 years.

A few links to follow in the next 2 posts.

Here is a cool little story about my car

Honestly, would you have started on this Studebaker? Face the fact, orphan cars are rare. Orphan cars can be really kool amongst Fords and Chevys.

And this is the one I am most excited about.
I haven't put in the fuel tank as I have a ton of welding to do in the trunk still so the red one gallon can is all I had for this first start up.
