  • Finally got my Commander out of the garage for a trip to town

Thanks to Studebaker Parts I was able to get 2 new front wheel cylinders for my Commander.
Local parts store had rear wheel cylinders in stock so after 2 partial days of work in the garage
I had all 4 installed. Went to bleed the brakes and heard fluid squirting out somewhere. So next morning I had to visit the local parts store for a metal brake line to go across the front cross member from the junction block to the right front brake hose connection. Finally no more stuck wheels.
Hardest struggle of the job was getting the front drums off with the wheel cylinder pistons seized inside the bores. It wasn't ready for Drive your Studebaker day but now can be driven down to town and back - 15 miles each way and a 2200 foot elevation change each way.
I parked along main street went in for some dinner at a local establishment.
As I came out, I overheard a Father and young daughter walk by.
Dad said to daughter - Buy me that car!
Sure generates a lot of attention when she's out.
Alot of people know it's a Stude, even though all name plates are removed, which warms my heart.
