I was going to add this to the I-465 / U.S.31 thread, but thought it might be missed for people that didn't need that information.
If you are approaching South Bend from the south on U.S. 31 to get to the St. Joseph County 4H Fairgrounds, where this weekend's Swap Meet is held, you'll need to know this:
New, limited-access, 4-lane U.S. 31 is open north from Plymouth to South Bend. No more delays crawling through Lakeville and LaPaz and the stop light at U.S. 6 and 31; the new road by-passes all that and saves a lot of time.
But when you approach South Bend, be sure to take the new Kern Road Exit or you'll go too far north and have to back-track several miles to get back down to the fairgrounds.
Coming from the south on new 31, exit on Kern Road to get to the Fairgrounds. Go East on Kern Road past Miami and then York, to the 4-way stop at Ironwood Road. Turn left (north) on Ironwood and you'll see the fairgrounds on the west side of Ironwood right away. BP
