1978 Avanti II for sale - update

I looked at a 1978 Avanti II in June in Fond du Lac, WI. I just got off the phone with the owner. Looks like a #4 at best. I don't know what the frame looks like. If there is any interest I can have them put it up on a hoist. It does run but the fueltank and or fuel line need cleaning or replacing. It does need torque boxes. She doesn't know what to ask for in price.

This is the 74 I purchased from Ebay. http://www.studebaker-info.org/avdb2...2123x0711.html

My final price was $3500 and I drove 150 miles to pick it up. Like the one you are showing it needed hog troughs and a complete paint job. The lifting paint you see on all the panels of your posted car will require a complete strip and repaint. The only reason I paid $3500 was it was a 4-speed car and I do all my own work. I won't get into a discussion that this one looks better than mine nor it has wire wheels because it needs the same amount work to get back to a decent car. We also don't know engine condition and I didn't mention the moldy interior.

I'd say if it goes for more than $2500 to $3000 I'll be surprised. I can buy one in good shape for $10-13K and you can't get that one to that level for $10K plus the price of the car unless you do your own work. I'd say price it at $2500 and hope someone loves it. The other choice is Ebay starting low with a reserve of $2-3K and see where it goes. You will need a lot more shots of the underside (Frame and Hog Troughs) and the interior.

It's probably worth more as parts but then someone needs to parts it out and set on them until they are needed and sold.

    Good Luck, Bob

    Bob,
Thanks for the evaluation. Experience counts in these matters. I will let the owner know.
