four speed, side spare mount, push button radio, climitizer, factory rear bumper (note - chrome bumpers were never offered from the factory), V8 conversion.

Would not want to drive that thing and those huge tires without power steering!

    7E7-18747 - 112 WB - T4 cab - for sale on Ebay, late December, 2016

automatic, AC, power brakes, radio, lighter, climitizer, oil filter, and many non-original items as well - wish they would use the tailgate chains when it was down - all I can see is chipped paint...

7E5-135849 - 112 WB - T6 cab - living in Kentucky - slowly being put back on its feet...

This truck was given to me by my Uncle in the late '90s. I started working on it and collecting parts. My Uncle passed in 2002 and the plans went out the window. Sold most of the bright stuff I had collected and never touched it again. Saw it again this month and kind of made me nostalgic - thinking now that I might take another stab at it and see how its turns out - glad I did not sell the extra bed I had gotten for it...

Along with a '53 Commander Starlight, '63 Avanti, '62 Daytona hardtop, and '51 Champion Starlight that was a former drag car...and the hardtop is actually a Champion - less than 800 made - but they all belong to family members who say they are going to do things with them...

    Additional photos of 135849

Photos taken in the summer of 1995 when truck first arrived.

Photos taken in 1997 after my Uncle had been doing some work on the truck.

This is a bed I bought in 2000 with the anticipation of continuing to restore the truck. The original bed has some big rust holes in the floor when trash had been placed in the truck at some point.

    Update as of July, 2017.

Decided to take the plunge and bring the truck back home to see if I can get it to go. Took the old bed off and finally put the green bed on - sad it had to sit outside for over 15 years. Old friend in Texas had a 7E5 that still had all its original drive train, so we slipped that under the hood on my way back - only problem is the replacement transmission is straight three speed - no OD...

Truck in its new resting spot with a much better outlook on life - what have I done...

    Update on E5-135849

Got the production order from the Studebaker National Museum today - about as basic as they come.

Truck appears to be ordered from a dealer in Henderson, Texas. Final assembly date is July 9, 1962. Shipped to Henderson, Texas. Came from the factory with 4.55 rear, OD transmission, heavy duty front springs* - and PCV valve. No mention of climitizer, radio, or cigar lighter - must have been dealer items...

*Someone has told me that printed in their 8E parts book, it has a note that the last 80 7E5s were built with this deviation on the production order. Thought it that they were out of standard E5 front springs and had plenty of E7 springs on hand - and they were going to a differenct front spring design in 1963...

    7E10-39761 - 122 WB - T4 cab - for sale on Craigslist, May 2017 and again in May 2018.

Ad states the truck has a four speed transmission. Pretty rare since only 172 were made for domestic sale in the 7E series.

16351 appears to me to be a 122 W/B, I can see the 3rd. (Center) stake pocket.

These '62's with the last of the through the floor Pedals, seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately!

And 135076 is VERY Nice looking with those '62 Lark or Red Dyed Door Panels, but still another with the Hot Water Input going to the Heater Core that cannot be shut OFF!
Not to mention the Air Cleaner facing the wrong way.

7E10-39572 - 122 WB - T6 cab - being restored currently in the middle east - believe in Israel. Information posted on the Facebook Champ page.

Vehicle has a 3/4 ton VIN, but it looks like it has 1/2 ton running gear - 3/4 ton wheels were 8 lug, these are five - maybe something to do with export? Also, the VIN plate is screwed to the B-pillar 90 degrees off from a welded on domestic plate...

    Thanks Warren.

Was the standard fan switch a single speed? I drove my 7E7 a last weekend when it was pretty cold and was reminded the fan switch was single speed only.

Sounds like an interesting truck - any photos?

All the Trucks I have ever seen or owned (8 or 9) had the first click wired to Hi and and second click from OFF wired to Lo.

That is exactly backwards to how the same switch in a '62 Lark works.
Never heard of or seen a Stude with only one speed Fan or Wipers.
Maybe the Motor is from an earlier Car that had a Resister on the switch to obtain Low Speed, so when you hook it up to a 2 Speed Switch, nothing happens on Low and I would not care because I never need Low.

I have CHAMP 1962, S/N E721529, Body tag 8E-T6, ANOTHER NUMBER ON THE NAMEPLATE IS 8E7-122 I don;t know what that number is.

I bought it in 1998 and at that time it had a Datsun 280Z engine and four speed tranny. Drove it home from Tucson AZ to New Orleans, LA.

It's now converted back to Stude power, V8 289 (+0.30) 4bbl with a GM 700R4 tranny. front clipped with a 79 Chevy Nova unit to get PS, front discs, IFS, anti-sway bar. etc. It drives like a sports car but can still pull a loaded car hauler trailer.

See photos on Hot Rod website for the 2016 Power Tour, trucks section.

The 8E7 on the Serial Number Plate indicates a '63 or '64 V8 Champ 1/2 Ton. The "E7" IN the Serial Number = also indicates a V8 1/2 Ton Truck.

The Sequential Serial Number 21529 will tell if it is a '63 or '64.

    The "122" = a long Wheelbase (122 Inch) 8 Ft. Bed Pickup.

The Body Tag "8E" just says that it is a '63/'64 Champ, the T6 is a "T" Cab = Champ, the 6 = Deluxe Cab.

These "Codes" are the World's simplest!

Thanks for your info Ken. As Rich mentioned, the VIN indicates your truck falls into the 1964 model year.

    7E7-18744 - 112 WB - T4 cab - information posted on Facebook Champ group.

State of California truck - automatic tranny, lighter, climitizer, outside left mirror, left visor, extra visor (other side?), PCV, full flow oil filter, HD front springs, foam cushion, 2 speed fan switch, 6" outside mirror, inside box tire carrier, wet air cleaner, special paint scheme.

Since SoC sold it, looks like someone has put on a P1 bed, sliding rear glass, and got rid of much of the Omaha orange paint...

It's an E12-5373 3/4 Ton Champ V8. The 7 E must be near that rusted rivet.

Was wondering about the mounting myself. I know that many exports had their plate screwed on - wonder if this one was diverted to domestic sale after it rolled off the line?
