  • Low-mileage Avantis out there...

..I know Jim Mc C's turquoise one was sold last year, but does anybody remember a red '64 R1 that supposedly had 4K miles that was for sale in the past couple years? I believe it was once owned by Len Blasko of Cleveland, OH. I did a search on this forum and could not turn it up. I'm thinking it was in Long Island when for sale.

    I remember the one.
I think it was on the east coast and if I recollect correctly you might find it on Hemmings. I'm sure they did a story in it.

The car in question was in N.J ,,It was sold several months ago by a friend of mine , I believe it is now in New Mexico , It was also a Sears car and still had the original tires , I Hope this helps Ed

I recall it being on display at the SDC Deerborn Meet back in 1995 still on its original tires & it was really worth a close look then.

Wasn't that car featured in 'Hemmings Classic Car" magazine a year or two ago? ( seems to Me that a high percentage of the '64 'square lights' were built like the car in question---Avanti Red, Black interior,

My 1964 Avanti was in that combination, red/black/R-1/AT, and it was assembled in a group of Avantis all the same and with Sears Allstate tires.

To; studegary,--------- I wondered if You might remember the serial # of Your '64? I ask because I also owned one exactly as You describe. Do You think Studebaker Execs thought this combo
to be the most saleable? I think the Promo car (4130?) had that same look (different engine, but same 'look').

As I stated, Studebaker made a run of Avantis, all the same, at that time.
