Can anyone point me the right direction to get my '66 Avanti II tach to work with HEI? I found a company that will move the electronics from the sending unit and set it up for HEI, but the cost is $250 and the wait is 3 to 4 weeks.

    Thanks

    Jim

A after market tach just hooks to the tach terminal on the HEI, will that not work with yours ?

not if it is the same style as the Studebaker ones... I think they hook to the other terminal of the coil (current sensing rather than voltage sensing)

N8 there are two styles of Studebaker tachs and senders, one hooks to the negative side of the coil, the other to the positive. BTW, since you are not returning any calls, I selling some of the good stuff in the stash without you getting first dibs. i will hang on to some of the AC stuff for you though.

Just go and buy a new Stewart Warner Tach and Speedo and install them.
Stude used a slightly larger diameter then what is available now, so
if you get both they will match. The standard all electric unit will
just hook right up to the terminal on the HEI. Thats what I did with
the '60 Hawk. Its also what I will do with my '63 Avanti.

sorry, had phone off all day, was in meetings w/ customers and county plans reviewer (don't allow cell phones in plans review office.) I am tapped out broke at the moment, am going to pick up my "new" truck this PM. So if you know of anything I need and feel like saving it for me you'll be doing me a favor but I might not be able to pay you until the end of the month.

Anything new found out on this? I followed my own advice and checked
into the cost of the SW tach and speedo .. OMG, the prices went up in
the last few years. Now what?
