I would too. This is another great picture from the H.A.M.B. that had no explanation.

        • Looks like a 53 Coup hiding in the back trying to look innocent after marking it's spot.

            • Ah, the good old days, when you could actually drive around in Seattle!

              • Might #3155 be a little earlier than 1960?

I suggest this because nothing later than 1957 appears in the photo (the Corvette appears to have just two headlights, making it 1957 or earlier). You would think there would be at least one vehicle closer to 1960 in the photo if it was taken in 1960.

Can anyone ID the model year of the VW bus/van in the photo? Dwain? That might help.

Meanwhile, that is an unusual photograph, having both a 1955 Studebaker Speedster and a contemporary 1950s Corvette in the same random photograph.

An interesting photo, Bruce; thanks. Good find. BP

                • Interesting Speedster...Could be a 'tri-tone' model, but more likely Coraltone/Pimlico Grey/Coraltone.

                  • Again in 3155 there are some other interesting vehicles. The Willys wagon looks to have been used hard and a lot rusty around the right rear corner. Behind it is what I think is a Nash. Next to it is possibly a two door Packard, but looks small. It also looks like an early Saab, but too small. Any ideas? Is that another Studebaker in front of the '55 Chevy?

                    • Well, DUH; the photo distinctly says June 30, 1959 right at the bottom! That is certainly "circa 1960," albeit on the early edge of "circa."

Joe, it's going to be difficult to identify the swoop-back next to the Willys wagon. It looks like so many GM cars of the late 1940s as well as a Packard of the era. If the Nash wasn't in the way, we could see the car's tail lights, but they are blocked by the Nash.

Agreed; that looks like another Studebaker far in front of the '55 Chevy. BP

                      • That VW bus appears to be a very rare and sought-after 23 window Samba Bus. Has 8 skylights and a large soft sunroof.

                          Right, Dwain.
Did you see the astronomical price one of those brought at a Mecum sale last year? I can't quote it because I don't remember it, other than being halfway to the moon. BP

                              • Another from Seattle (Ballard) muni. archives, same project as #3155. Lots of photos from this road project, but very few Studebakers!
