What a cool picture of what became The May Company building that still stands opposite of the Petersen Museum, the corner of Wilshire & Fairfax in Los Angeles!

I wish that building were still there, an incredible example of Art Moderne/Streamline architecture. In spite of historical declaration, it was torn down a couple of years ago.

George Seeger of Whittier, CA on the outside in his 1951 Commander # 18. This race was run at the Michigan Fairgrounds track, Detroit, MI.

The license plate is an Indiana Dealer Plate.

Dealer #1 was probably Tom O'Brien Chrysler-Plymouth; a big-wig in Indianapolis.

The M signifies Dealer.

The 56 is that particular plate, meaning Dealer #1 had at least 56 dealer plates in circulation, a large dealership, to be sure!

Good question. I take it you are referring to the license plate on the car. However, note that all the signs are in English. Curious.
