  • It appears to me that the first image in #9765 is a twofer.

Good catch. The original picture was so small I missed that.

        • #9768 Looks a lot different than it did in 1972 when I took my Avanti on the boat to Vancouver Island. A lot of stories I can tell you about that town.

          • Great picture Bruce. Do you think it's still out there in Port Angeles?

            • When I saw Port Angeles I had to look closer. I had an uncle Larry Fraiser who lived there many years, but I don't know when he moved there. These guys would be too old to be him, but could be relatives.

Probably in a shed up there, I think you and Bill should go look for it!

                          • I have #9775 (courtesy of Richard Quinn) 14x11, in black & white on my office wall.
Per Carl Thompson in an OLD letter to Turning Wheels, Studebaker employee Carl Tuveson took this picture with the photo shop's brand new large format, high-speed camera.
Apparently the train did not stop in South Bend, and averaged 60 mph between NYC and Chicago, with 7 stops en route!

By the way, that little "glitch" in the rectangular window just above the arched window right ahead of the engine, is a person leaning out to watch the show!
                            Great picture.
