  • 1951 Truck No Spark

    Hello,

I recently purchased a 1951 P/U that is all original. The truck cranks over but the rotor in the distributor does not turn. I pulled the distributor and it will turn by hand. Any ideas on what in the motor has given way. Any help would be appreciated, I'm trying to replicate the truck that my Grandfather purchased new in 1952

      Hi 5152Stude,

I'll bet on the timing gear also. Get and follow the Service Manual for info on replacing it. You'll need a commonly available puller from your FLAPS to get the old gear off easily. Parts and gaskets readily available from many Studebaker Vendors. Good luck.

Wow!!!! You guys are great! And fast! What vendors are available for the parts? Also, do you know what model rearend is in the truck? I'm looking to change the ratio(5.38:1) to something that I can drive on a daily basis.

        Thanks again!

Here's a link to our vendors, from the "Home" page.

Now that you have the bug, spend $19.95 to join the Studebaker Drivers Club. The monthly magazine, TURNING WHEELS, will blow you away.
