  • Supercharger (Paxton) rebuild ???

Hey Guy's my 62 R2 is loaded and heading home. I have been very busy lately, just sent a check for a pair of Dans CalTrac Type traction bars, got a set of Flanged axles coming to York from Matthew Burnette, and an extra T10 4 spd from a forum member coming to either York or SB in May. I'm getting ready for this whole drag racing thing(can't wait). Anyhow, my supercharger needs a bearing so I am going to rebuild the whole thing. I need to know what type of bearing press I will need. Is there a specific type or are they pretty universal? Is there a web site that shows a Paxton SN60 rebuild? I have a feeling I will have more than one that will need to be rebuilt in the future so I want to get the correct tools and learn to do it myself. Thanks in advance.

John, wait 'till you find out how much that "bearing" cost.

Where will you drag race it? Being a 1962 model, it wouldn't be eligible for a stock class with an R2.

It's seldom a bearing, most often a planetary ball set and driver. DIY for $200-$300, or pay $600 or so for a rebuild.

...and that gets it looked at by knowledgeable, experienced eyes who already have the correct tools and specs; they can spot potential problem areas you or I might not based on years of experience, and some can even tweak your unit for better performance. IMO worth the few extra hunnert; YMMV.

I was wondering about that, I am new to all this racing stuff. Maybe it will just have to be at the international meet and around town.[V]

Might have to look for a 64 Commander donor car[8D]

No problem, Sal just happens to have a rust free, plain white wrapper 2 door sedan on our used car lot.

                      John,
There are drag strips all over the country to compete at. [^] You just won't be able to run at the PSD's. Have a blast with your Lark. Wish I had a Super Charged 4 Spd car.
