I need help, I can't find a local supplier to match the paint on my M5. Any ideas where I can get paint to match or at least close?

I found my color at NAPA. They had some kind of machine that told the color. I think they referred to it as a camera.

What color do you want to match?

The Dupont Centari acrylic enamel formula for Ruby Glow Red is L9083A, CC:T, ALT: 1

The DuPont formula for Forest Green is GS380, a current fleet color.

Here's data on the colors available on M trucks (and all '47-'54 trucks):

Once you know what your color code is, call DuPont at 1-800-338-7668, give them the code and they will tell you the current match in Centari acrylic or in ChromaBase basecoat/clear coat.

The interior tan color is Centari code C9258A, ALT:1, same as 1992 Ford "Light Mocha".

Wheel stripes can be done with "1-Shot" Ivory, available through hobby shops and sign painters supply stores.

You're welcome. But what color IS/WAS your truck? If you do get another formula for a different paint color, please post it here so that others can share.

Remember, that you can always get a build record from the Studebaker National Museum for your truck that will show the original paint code and full equipment list. See http://www.studebakermuseum.org/deta...ue&pgnum=1&p0=

Your M5 truck's serial number/VIN should be on your title (e.g. M5-44132) as shown on the tag on the riser under the left side of the seat and also on an aluminum tag just in front of the left front wheel. It is NOT the body tag number on the firewall on the right side of the engine compartment. Body tags and serial numbers are not related in any special way.

I think it is forest green judging by the charts. My serial # on the title is M5 2663. That is also the body tag # so I don't think the title is correct after what you say. I have never noticed any other tags on the truck.I will have to look closer. Without the proper serial # I can't get a build record I am sure. I always wondered since it was titled as a '42 but someone told me that it is probably a later truck. Good thing I NEVER plan on selling my baby. I didn't know you could get a build record. I didn't learn this much in a day even back in high school. I should have come to this site long ago. You would never guess I have owned the thing for 18 years. Never really did much to it just drove it now it needs a bit of TLC.

Just wanted to thank you all for your help in matching paint colors. I picked up some paint from my local Dupont dealer today, I haven't sprayed it yet but the match is incredibly close. I was lost on what to do for a match thanks again.
