  • Internal Resistor Coil

I was told that I could eliminate the external Resistor Block by using the fifth Ave. Internal Resistor Coil. Who out here has used this coil from fifth ave? Can you advise me on your experiences? I am changing over from 6 to 12 volts.

If you plan to use a Pertronix Electronic Ignition or similar in the future, you might be better off with one of the Pertronix Flame Thrower 40,000 Volt Coils with 1.5 OHM resistance. And maybe that is what they sell?

Believe it or not, 6V are the same as 12V, it is more about the OHM rating and # of Cylinders of the engine than anything else. [:0]

I was able to walk into my FLAPS and ask for a 12 volt coil with a built in resistor, and walk out with one, I don't' remember who made it. It works a charm.

Tom B. I had the same luck, a 12 Volt with a resistor from Auto Zone or O'Riley. I don't remember the store. I will look up the # of the coil, etc if that would be of any help. The points now have 1500 miles and do not seem burned.
