Judging by the vegetation, it is in the desert Southwest, too far for you or I to consider.

this is the one from the Tucson Craigslist that I posted about a couple of weeks ago. The discussion turned to how to put PS on a Champ.

Photobucket has a forum size option under "re-size", you do that first before loading it to the forum, it usually takes a while to actually happen though, just do it and it will become the size you choose, eventually!

I delete the original and reload the downsized one to the forum, if I messed up the first time like you did.

Also when you revise an existing post with the pencil icon (edit reply) or add a new "reply to topic", you have a Preview button at the bottom to see what the photo will look like!

Sorry I didn't give all the info. The truck is in Tucson Az. I don't know the milage on the truck because of a speedo change. It is a 289 with 5 speed, The power steering is GM and turns on a dime. AC needs charged. No rust that I can see. I put a new battery in it and drove it home, about 5 miles from my Dad's. It starts right up, but hoses and belts ect. are all old, looks like the water pump may be leaking. The brakes are still up and didn't need any fluid. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Thanks Terry 520-982-9771

    Terry,
We believe that the picture of the Studebaker sign below was taken by John at your Dad's property in Tucson. We drove by today and realized that the sign had been taken down. We were wondering whether this was your sign and whether it had been sold, taken down as a family heirloom, or something else? Can you give us any information on this? We've always enjoyed looking at it when we drove by and were hoping that it hadn't been stolen. Thanks for your help!

Hi, The sign now lives in my garage. I had some good offers for it but decided to keep it. Thanks for asking.

A Champ that turns on a dime? How novel (LOL).

Terry, you say the truck has a one-ton rear. Is this a Studebaker axle or.. perhaps GM like the steering? What was the truck originally, a 3/4 ton?

Ron; It's all 1 ton Ford from the back of cab back, frame and all and it is (was) a 8E7 1/2 Ton according to Terry.

This is really quite a "special" truck, not necessarily in a bad way, just different! 289, 5 O.D. Deluxe cab Air Cond. It has quite a bit of custom work in it! [^]

A 1 ton stake bed like this, in '63/'64 would have been a Transtar you know.

Yes, Rich, I did know that a one-ton would have been the one and only one-ton Transtar built in 1963. I seem to remember having read in TW that there was only one built in '63 and none at all in '64. My question was weather this Champ started out as a 3/4 ton, which was available for '63-4.

Those look like '62 sedans in the background. So, that's... what, a '62 Champ? Definitely looks like a one-ton![8D]

Those are 63's in the background Ron...(no wrap around windshield)
You are correct, it was a 1 Ton Champ, but I cannot remember the story behind it. [?][B)]
