In the recent Auto Restorer, Milt Webb is tuning up a Rambler and suggests the timing adjustment by gently rotating the dist. in the opposite direction of it's travel...I would twist clockwise in the case of my OHV Stude 6...while it's running with a vacuum gauge plugged in. As you rotate the dist, watch the vacuum climb and when the engine begins to stumble from being too advanced, bring it back to within an inch from the highest reading.
