  • Studebaker Fishing Boat?

Any of you guys know if Studebaker made 15' fishing boats in 1958? A guy I work with says he has one and wants to sell it. Along with a 18hp motor and trailer.

Raymond Loewy designed this Dorsett boat around 1958, but there was no connection with Studebaker that I know of.

And no 18hp motor would push this thing!

A guy named Studebaker made the boats, his only connection with the car company was the family name.

I seem to recall there was a company that made Studebaker boats but it was related to our Studebaker founders only by ancestral lineage.

Does the sign on that building say "Makers of Boats and Flower Stands"?

I'll have to dig around to find it, and then find someone with a scanner~ BUT~
about 9-12 years ago I remember seeing a boat not far from here that looked as though a portion of a '53-'61 coupe was used- the boat had the backglass, rear 1/4 windows and roof grafted onto it. Sure looked good, but really odd...

                    I shoulda' bought it!!! [:0]

Steve, the one he is selling is aluminium. Boat, trailer and motor - asking $1,000.

Dont know where you are but that would be a good deal here in upstate SC for a sound 15' aluminium boat ready to use.You could even do a bit of work on it and be OK.I would love to have it myself just because its a studebaker but simply cant justify another boat as the two we have sit most of the time anyway.Good luck with it,Steve

It sounds like you may have some good Historical Information about the "Studebaker Boat Co.", if you would post some more understandable Sentences with Verbs, that would be great.

I don't think this is connected to the WWII Weasels. Studebaker worked with Many Local to South Bend, IN Co's to have partially Built unit Parts made, like the US Postal Service Zip Vans all of which SDC Members are well aware of.
