Thank you for the post, I've been on/in/alongside that structure on several occasions over the last few years thanks to the local Studebaker folks and hoped this would happen. It has thankfully happened and makes the parts setting on my shelf, brick and floor pieces - received with permission, even more enjoyable.

Best part of any of the visits was the year that several of the original employees were present to share their memories of working there. That was a real win/win for all in attendance.

    Great memories, Bob

If that doesn't make me want to drive cross country, what would?

By the way, my signature photo (displayed below) is of my GT Hawk on the 6th floor of Building 84 during the 2017 international meet. It was a very memorable opportunity.

I am happy we toured the building in 2017 but excited to see its transformation.

I am hoping that someone with more knowledge can give more information, but as a whole, building 84 was a body assembly plant with the 6th floor being an upholstery shop.

    1st floor-Body panels welded together.
2nd floor -Grinding of welds on body panels.
3rd floor Lead was applied to body panels and ground smooth - also known as the death floor
4th floor Body panels were painted
5th floor Body panels were assembled. Also interiors were installed.
6th floor Interiors were fabricated and sewn by women.

Completed units then went from the 5th floor south, across Sample Street for the body drop to the frame.

What is the intended use of the building? Is it going to be residential or commercial?

Thanks Brent, it sure has come a long way since we were there (and saw all the cars displayed on the 6th floor with yours). We'll be there in May and hope to see the progress since then, maybe see you there too. Bill

Hopefully that Residential section is what currently faces the parking lot! I would love to try talking them out of those tin barns in the court-yard between the buildings. They'd make a great addition to any farm. Not to mention the additional great history involved.

By the by, thanks for posting this. Loved the video.

How did you get your vehicle up to the 6th floor?

When I was there a large freight elevator was in use: perhaps 16X20 feet in floor space. The elevator went to all six floors.
