Anniversary of the Battle of Beersheba 31/10/17

One of the last cavalry charges in modern warfare.

Interesting piece of mostly forgotten history. How things have changed in 100 years what with "troops" now sitting at remote station terminals and performing their duties electronically from afar.
    Thanks for posting.

The last American cavalry charge was early in WWII in the Bataan Peninsula of the Philippines. It took the Japanese by surprise and was a small success prior to the ultimate defeat there. The Russian Cossacks attacked German armor during WWII as well...while undoubtedly very brave it probably didn't affect the outcome in any meaningful way.

The Poles also attacked the Germans with Cavalry, they were massacred.

Off topic question for the OP.

Since both the German raider Kormoron and the cruiser HMAS Sydney have been located, was the hull of the Sydney examined for torpedo damage?

When the Kormoron sank, there were 300 survivors. When the Sydney exploded and sank, there were no survivors.

Information confirming torpedo strike on the HMAS Sydney.
