So, the Corkins action is done. I wish I could have been there, just couldn’t leave in the middle of the week. I did follow the cars online. I was interested in the cruiser but it went for more than I was willing to pay including transportation.
For the most part everything did fairly well for what it was. The Avantis went in the range of three grand each. Max’s father’s 1952 demonstrator went for $4300. His truck camper sold for $2000. The big moving truck only sold for $250!There were a few that were surprisingly cheap, but mostly the money was OK. That was the first time I followed and auction through WhatsApp. It worked fairly well.
I could have really used a lot of the shop equipment he had. A lot of it was old-school heavy duty stuff. But none of that was sold online. It is what it is.
I guess that ends quite a chapter in the Studebaker world. It was sad, but everything comes to an end. I just couldn’t help but think, Max should have started downsizing all of this stuff 10 years ago. It’s a good lesson in the tragedy of pretending the inevitable isn’t going to happen.
