  • Buttercup's new alternator

I don't seem to work as fast as I used to. I spent the last two days fabricating a new alternator mount and adjusting bracket.
But with this 95 degree heat and 95 percent humidity I spent most of the time sitting in front of a fan trying to catch my breath.

I like your design with the weight hanging on the fixed mount and the adjustment on the bottom mount.

That's what we get for living in the good ol' South

I really like what you've done with the new bracketry for the alternator. Good job. Now wipe off the sweat and get back to work....

Interesting; but where does the power steering pump go now?

Same idea I have in mind for my GT. The EPAS lets the alternator to be located on the left of the engine. I've taken some pic's, just haven't loaded them in the computer. Thanks for the inspiration, Bill.

You realise you have to do away with the mechanical fuel pump, don't you?

                  Jerry,
I mounted mine on the passenger side. Turned the generator bracket backward, drilled an extra hole in it, bolted the alternator right up. Now I have room on the driver side for an AC compressor. When I get the Hawk back from the Body Shop, I can install the EPAS. BTW...I got the steering bell crank shortened...ALSO waiting for the install. Your advise has been a Godsend...

                    Looks good from here.
I know what you mean about the heat and humidity. I have been spending lots of time working outside on my "new" truck. I think the media makes too much of the heat index thing though. Those of us who grew up in the south just deal with it. At least we have air conditioning now.

                        Good eye Brad.
I may use it or may not. I'm kinda partial to the chromed finned aluminum Mr.Gasket/Rodware air cleaner seen in other pix of Buttercup. The Toronado air cleaner is there to keep things from falling into the carburator. Notice the paper towels in the inlet snouts.

EPAS? Environmental Protection Agency Steering? Must be a southern thing?

LOL. Electric Power Assisted Steering. It's all the rage now-a-days. Most new cars have it.
I'm moving into the 21st century. I even put a new Android Head Unit (check it out on YouTube) in my '84 Toyota PU daily driver a couple weeks ago. But that was due to Georgia's new hands free driving law.
If you're driving in Georgia, don't get caught with a cell phone in your hand or propped on your shoulder. You will get a ticket.

Hi Jerry, yup the fuel pump will be gone. I'm going to use a throttle body fuel injection so there will be an electric pump used. Thanks for the info, Bill.
