    I messed up big time

Did you ever regret doing something you shouldn't have? Of course, we all have. I am sitting here in a wheel chair with 2 broken feet wondering "What was I thinking?". I do a good amount of house painting, so thought nothing of tackling a 3 storey stairwell alone. Instead of using a proper adjustable stair ladder I set up my 16 ft. extension ladder and went to town.
Well, the feet kicked out and down a flight of stairs I went. The paint covered the window and wall and the ladder gouged the wall on the way down.
Surgery is soon to clean up the shattered bones.
Service Master is scheduled to clean up my mess. Did
I learn anything from this? You bet. Won't do that again!

Glad to hear you will soon be in all in one piece again. Would hate to be called Humpty Dumpty.

A few weeks ago I climbed on the roof to do prep and caulk for painting the house.
Felt real unsecure up there and thought about Lionel Stone.
Climbed down and hired a painter.
    Best money ever spent.

29 years in the same house, got 19 years out of a 20 year roof, and 20 years ago spent the better part of six months scraping, pressure washing, priming, and used 232 tubes of caulk sealing the two-story house. Painting was the easiest part. I've written the check for 1/2 the amount & they start painting on Friday the 1st. I think I've learned.

So Sorry for your fall, and hope you heal soon.

During this week my Hudson buddy fell 8 feet off a ladder and broke ribs and laid there for 45 minutes before being found. All of us need to understand there is a need for a spotter when using ladders and a time to hire rather than DIY. That being said, my Grandpa painted his two story bungalow by himself
at age 74 mostly using a antique of a WOODEN extension ladder with round rungs!!

Yep, we have painters coming in to do the vaulted master bedroom, and the 2 story entry way, As Jeff stated, money well spent!

I'm about 2 years older than you and just recently realized that I can't do things I did 30 or 20 or even 10 years ago.
I have been lucky so far, but I have begun to not take chances [as much].
Hope you get good Doctors, good care and heal quickly.

Thanks to all for good wishes and positive thoughts. I'll never take being able bodied for granted again. Celebrating our 38th anniversary today and will wheel my sorry butt across town to an outdoor concert, barring the predicted storm.
