  • Electrical: Avanti window motor test? Wires.

    Time to peddle a nice pair of window motors and I should really test them first. Black wire has got to be ground.
    How about the red, yellow & green. Perhaps up, down & eject?
    Thanks.

    More like, up, down and 12 volt power. Without a wiring diagram, I would think that the red is the 12 volt power, the black the ground and the yellow and green come from the 2 switch posts to complete the up/down circuits. Red to green should run the motor one way and red to yellow the other way. I'm just using common sense on this, so it's best to consult a wiring diagram to make sure before you weld the motor to itself or smoke it.

      Bills R2;
      If I recall correctly the black wire on the motor connects to -12 volts. Connect +12 volts to yellow and green and the window goes up. Connect +12 volts to the Red and Yellow and the window goes down.

        Thanks guys, I found a 2011 Avanti magazine article online that really gets into the minutia.
        Motors run great, PM me if you are interested.
