  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: Panal

Before I start. Is there a certain method in removing just the instrument panel? 1974 Avanti.

All the gauges have to come out the front. Each individually. There is not a "quick" panel removal, that will take them all out at once.

As Brad said, the dash is a one piece fiberglass molding not counting the glove box door. It is a basket of snakes behind the instrument panel that can be accessed from underneath and through the speaker grill on top. I used a third way on my 74. I removed the trim panel from the edge of the dash and cutout an access hole staying just inside of the area indicated by the trim screw holes.

Time and patience will get it done but you'll have a good repertoire of invectives when you're done. Be sure to label everything.

With a good sawsall you can probably have it out in about a minute and a half. <G>
