Any one remember Sad Sack? I knew Fred Rhodes in Tucson and after drawing Sad Sack, he drew editorial cartoons for our now defunct evening newspaper The Tucson Citizen.

RIP Mort Walker and thanks for the memories and smiles.

Yes, I remember Sad Sack. As I recall, he had his own comic book and I remember buying some copies in the early 70's. Beetle Bailey was prominent in the South Bend Tribune Sunday Comics, and I remember him being moved to the first page of the comics when I was a carrier. Beetle Bailey was also my Dad's favorite comic strip.

Just thought that I would throw in some more trivia. I recall reading both comic strips when I was in grade school. They were my introduction to reading the dally newspaper.

I have read Beetle Bailey for years, but the strip I miss most is Pogo. The subtle political comments were different.
