Still fixing stuff from the long ago fire mishap....
Found that the #$!@& brand X flex plate had loosened up and hogged out the holes at both the crank and the torque converter. Was making a nasty death rattle noise.
Was able to split the engine/trans far enough apart to get the old flexplate out and put in a new one.
Worst part of the job was having to unbolt the Lokar shifter to slide the trans back.
(Small hole, fat fingers....)
Anyways... The Lokar nostalgic shifter that I had put in way back in 2000 was 26" tall. Looked cool, but was real tall.
You couldn't open the 'ash receiver' when in park because the knob blocked it.
But a perusal of the Lokar catalog showed that they now make a slightly shorter 16" nostalgic shifter.
Looked up the 'handle only' part number and went to Amazon.. Sure enough, it was there, listed under Speedway Automotive.
(Free shipping for prime members).
Spent all day putting it back together and getting it set properly in the truck.
Like it a lot. Angle is better. Reach is better. Happy boy.
Couple more wiring issues to fix and the Yellow POS is back out on the road!
