1955 conestoga wagon driver door or donor car - early flat window version

I was unfortunately TBoned in my restored Conestoga Wagon. Ejected from the crash and walked away. At a minimum I need a driver side door for the early flat window wagon or a good donor car. Thanks for helping appreciate information, resources. Sedan doors will not work. CONTACT KEITH WAHL EMAIL: KWAHL@SAN.RR.COM CELL 858 5182190

Good luck finding a good Door Keith, yesterday I got a call from my long time friend Bill Oliver at Studebaker Parts and Service, looking for a '54-early '55 2 Door Wagon L/H Door.
We have about 25 parts Cars but nothing close to what he needs for your Car.

I had to sadly tell him that I think you would have to weld the Top Half (Window Frame) from a Wagon to a 2 Door Sedan Door, as rare as those are.

How about pulling a fiberglass mold off someone else's good door?

The Conestoga wagon doors and the 4-door sedan front doors and front clip should be the same for both the early and mid 55's.

4 doors use shorter doors,I don't even think a 2 door sedan door will work. unless the upper frame is changed with some body work and such. unless the sedan vs. wagon door thing came later on ?

The Conestoga's have the shorter door, i have one. Mine is mid year and the same color. I need a top. They are kinda like the Champ PU which has the same doors as a 4 door Lark.

I agree, just give it a little time, and keep re-passing the word around.

Those wagons are a 4-dr sedan to the back of the door, same as the Champ PU

I stand corrected, " I realize Studebaker was Studebaker" but would think a 2 door wagon would be based on a 2 door sedan ? how does one enter the back seat with less door length.

Keith inquired with us about parts, and I did some research on the doors and measured cars to figure out what would work and what wouldn’t. The wagon door is longer than a 4 door sedan door.

An early flat-windshield 55 two door sedan has the same door as the early flat-windshield wagon, but the top section around the window is different (the wagon door is taller). You could use a door from a 2 door sedan (F body) if you changed the top section. Studebaker International has NOS F body doors in their catalog, but they may be out of stock. Won’t know unless you call. A good body shop should have no trouble modifying the top section on a rust free, NOS door.

I stand corrected, too. Getting in the back seat is like any of the 2-doors.

I called French Lake Auto Parts this morning for your door, and they just returned my call. They said they have one for $200.

I spent a couple hours at French Lake today and took a picture of the door and wagon it's on. The door looks good.

That whole wagon looks like it could be saved with a couple of front fender and the usual other things.

I might be going back in a week or so, and I'll take a closer look at it.

Gary, I went back to French Lake this morning. The door is very nice, but the floors are rusted through, so for me that would make this wagon too far gone to be worth restoring.
