Dupont has an historical archive of its paint chips going back to about 1930 with a suggested current best match paint code. I am considering using the suggested match for "Rancho Red" for my '55 President although it does indicate the match will be darker? than original. A search on "dupont color chip historical library" should point you there. Has anyone found this site useful for your paint match?

American iron, real old school
With two tone paint, it sure is cool
Its got 8 cylinders and uses them all
With an overdrive that just won't stall
With a 4 barrel carb and dual exhausts
With 4.23 gears it can really get lost
Its got safety belts and I ain't scared
The brakes are good and the tires are fair.
Tried to sell her, but got no taker
I"ll just keep driving my StudebakerTags: None

Shortcut to: http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/...color/hcl.html
That address should get you there. I use google for searching. Don't use the quotes when searching i.e. use dupont color chip historicalAmerican iron, real old school

I went to the paint chip page for '55 spring colors which are actually on the '56 color sheet. The suggested match is hand written next to the color chip. In this case the match is RS627American iron, real old school

I see what you are talking about. I was expecting a search engine driven data base with cross reference to all the paint codes. The year I was after does not have any hand written notes beside it.
Sorry to distract your thread. I just thought it would be a very handy program that could select a matching paint from a certain year with one from all the paint available. Maybe one day.
