  • '65 or '66 bucket seats with center console

    Hi All-

I'm investigating changing (but keeping) my front split bench seat in our 66 Daytona to the bucket seats with the center console. I realize all the obvious costs in re- upholstery etc. Would all bucket seats with the console out of any 65 or 66 fit?, or do they have to be out of a Daytona? Anybody want to weigh in on this? Does anyone know how available the buckets seats with the console are?

    Thanks in advance - Eric

Any Lark buckets from '62 up would fit. You're already halfway there as you have the floor plate for both as well as mounting the console. I assume you have INDIVIDUAL split bench seats-if not you WILL need the floor plate.

I have a set of 65 black buckets and might have the console, but they are in California and they are a nice set.

There would not be any Bucket Seats in any other '65-'66 Model except a Daytona Sports Sedan with that standard feature.
So that does limit the supply a lot to parted out Daytona Sports Sedans if you wanted matching design, materials and colors.

Per Post #2, all '62-'64 Lark types not Hawk, ordered with the Bucket Seat Option will also fit.

I can tell you from experience that the most comfortable seat is the Split Bench with Recliners not the Buckets, though they LOOK great.

Make sure you get a non-Powershift console.

Hey Chris, whats the difference between a powershift console and non powershift console. I have the automatic three speed transmission. On the column.

The '63 & '64 Lark and Lark Type Power Shift was a Floor Shift, so the Console would have to have provision to combine with the floor box for the shifter that you will not need.

It is not likely that you will come across one of these, if you do someone who needs it way more than you will pay twice your price!

I searching for your seats for a "Lark" style car, make sure they are for the "Lark" and not the Hawk.

Looking on the bottom side, outboard on the hinge, you will see a tube spacer..

This one is for a Hawk, short tube..

This one is for a "Lark," Long tube..

Also the center console is different as well between Hawk and "Lark"..

This is a "Lark", non-powershift, as noted by the square tabs on the back end.

I should probably know this, but as I recall bucket seats were available in Cruisers in 1966, maybe 1965, too. Could you get bucket seats with the cloth/vinyl as used on the reclining bench seats, or could you only get bucket seats in all vinyl?

I saw a photo on Facebook of a parts car 1963 Lark Custom two door sedan with buckets seats and a console. it was posted by Bruce Bandow. I don't know if he is on this forum.

The South Bend '63 to '64's were available with about any option especially on seats, on Canadian built especially after Jan. '64 not so much, '65 & '66 Daytona Sports Sedans only and no recliners.

I once had a 64 Daytona 4 door that came with cloth center buckets and a powershift, how rare would that have been?

Because the Car was ordered with a Power Shift there was no choice, it had to have Bucket Seats.
We had a Bordeaux Red '64 Cruiser up North here ordered that way exactly, it is a bit rare in a 4 Door, but remember all Jet Thrust Cars with Automatic, HAD to be that way also.

One of the Granatelli's parked one just like the one I just described but with an R2 Engine, everyday next to the Paxton Products Div. of Studebaker building in Santa Monica.
