Just got my dash back that's going into the 74. Not 74 not 89 but modified. It will be all digital in a month or so when I've got all the parts added. Vinyl not leather and matches the seats I'll be using quite well.

Delivered to the shop.

Hi Bob,
Looks great!
What shop did you use?

Thanks, I used a local shop called Linwood Upholstery. The owner and his brother will do about anything from boat seats to leather furniture to classic car leather. I saw his work at a local body shop where the owner was restoring a 48 Buick 'vert for himself. Dave had done the leather seats and they were great.

I took in the dash, he asked me about what I wanted and here it is. A great guy and skilled upholster but as with most Manana tends to mean any day except tomorrow. But well worth the wait and reasonably priced.

Bob,
Really like what you have done with the dash. Is that originally a Hawk dash? Do you have any construction/fabrication photos of the core as it progressed?

Keep up the excellent work!

Thanks Gene. It's actually a modified 89 Avanti dash. I bought the fiberglass shell from George Dimitsas's a few years back. I really liked the large drivers pod but couldn't get past the funny looking console extension on the right side. Finally decided what to do with it and you can see the result in the first picture compared to the picture of the installed 89 dash below.

My instruments and other digital items will look entirely different than the stocker. It is a direct bolt in on the older Avanti's. I'm still deciding what to do with the stock vent lever setup in the center console. I'll keep them and have an idea but need to get this dash set inplace to finalize the concept. They'll only control the vents as I have a complete aftermarket Heat/AC setup installed.

Nice job, Bob. Back in the late 90's, I installed an '89 dash in my car. Wound up placing a tab right above my left knee with all the push pull controls for the air/heat, defrost, etc

My 90 4 door dash is a little different then the one pictured my A/C outlets run more across the dash and the shifted set up is different and with more controls in that location, BTW I have a full interior from a 76 Avanti and a good dash and gauges, every thing except the rear seat and shiftier, in fact the whole body is good except windshield and front fenders and hood were damaged along with the frame, every thing I have here is for sale and in nice shape.

Bob

Why not post a picture of the Avanti dash. If it is crack free, someone should be very happy to take it off your hands.
