  • '55 K body bumper bolts

I guess my '55 Speedster bumpers used rectangular bumper bolts. Is there a current replacement e.g. 30's-40's Ford (which are available)?

You're right about that. Although round head bumper bolts work just fine, rectangular ones were originally fitted to your Speedster. (all the way around)

Studebaker International have the rectangular bolts readily available!

There is much discussion here in prior posts about the '55 to '64 C & K Models having either Round or Oval Bolt heads on the corners/sides of the Bumpers.

Studebaker Vendors have a limited supply of the Oval head type.

I've looked into this fairly closely Rich. '56-'64 C/K's may very well have used round bolts on the sides, but all original factory photos of '55 C/K's that I've seen indicate that oval head bumper bolts were used 'all the way around'!....Ed

So it must be the REAR bumpers that many Hawks had the Round type on the sides, I am not in either "Camp", I never checked that out.

I'm pretty sure that the last time I was poking around on the Tacoma Screw website I found some chromed rectangular-head bolts that were identical to the ones that were originally on my P.H.'s bumpers. Check out their site. If they have them they might be able to sell them to you at a lower price than SI can.

Yes, I've also seen many (if not all) Hawk series C/K's with round bolts at the rear side locations.....but as far as the '55's go, 'oval' bolts appear to have been used in ALL bumper bolt locations. (IMHO)

The original style oval bolts had the heads wrapped in stainless. Some reproductions were all chrome.

And those stainless caps, if not damaged, buff up to a beautiful 'gleam'!

                        Something like this?

Somebody above said that Restoration Specialties had them and they were right.

My '54 had round bolts on the side holes of the rear bumper when my father in law bought it in the '60s. We always assumed this was correct, and I put it back together that way. After reading this thread I got curious and checked my 51-54 chassis parts book. It shows the oval shaped bolt in all locations, no round ones.
I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, but will probably change them out at a convenient time.

Good information Dwight!, I'd guess the round bolts at the rear sides probably were phased in.......in 1956.

The way Studebaker used what they had "at the time" I don't doubt that some vehicles left the factory with round bolts. It's certainly possible.
