  • Brakes: Cutting the swedge on the rear brake drum swedge.

A word to the wise if you are thinking of cutting the swedges off the wheel studs do this first drill and tap the drum for a 1/4 in drum and hub counter sink the hole in the drum and when you reinstall the drum fasten the drum to the hub using flat headed bevel screw. These bevel screws will center the hub and drum like it was before swedges were cut.
Some one had cut the swedges off of my GT s drums. One drums is good but the right drum had too much metal removed and is causing problems,

X2 for that. I came to the same conclusion a few years back. Have also seen it on quite a few brand X cars. For the ones that have not done it, a way is to fit it up and not tighten the nuts and apply the brake to center the drum, then while the brake is on tighten the nuts. I have not had any problem with mine but have removed that system and gone with flanged axles.
