  • Fly Windows 51 truck

Was going through the listings on ebay, saw this nice looking 51 pickup, and has the highly rare Fly Windows. Have heard them called Vent Windows, Ventipanes, wing windows, but that is a new one on me. Suppose it was confusion with Wing? Fly is sort of close. Or is this something really different, comments?

Well the only thing that makes a 47 to '52 Stude. Car or a R Series or Any "C" Cab different from other makes of the '50's and beyond, is there is NO fixed Vent Window Post.

Highly Rare "Fly Windows", or "Special" MAYBE, but they all have them!

Wonder if he was talking about those air wings sold for street rods?
They come in all colors of plastic, and stainless steel.

Some folks call those "breezies" but my daddy used to call them c*ck coolers.

Nice looking truck, but no indication of what fly windows are. I sent him a message asking for information. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-Studeba...m=222392209382

I suppose when you get up some speed with the vent windows open, and with the fender vents open, the draft would suck the flies out the vent window.

Believe me, when you stop at a farm the flies flock to the inside of any vehicle.

At a starting bid of $20,000.00, he must just be fishing. It is a 3/4 Ton with a Commander 245 Six and Overdrive though. It appears to have a Cigar Lighter and used to have Fog Lights.

I just got a reply from the seller about what fly windows are. "The small windows in the doors that can be opened for max air flow into the cab." So he did mean the vent windows. Mystery solved.
