  • Rear Axle: Dana 44 Twin Traction Questions

I'm considering buying a limited slip unit for the Dana 44 rear axle in my Sky Hawk. The gears in it are 3.92, but I need to know such things as the axle spline count, bolt-in or C clip retention, etc. I need as much info as I can get on EVERYTHING I need to know to get the correct unit.

19 spline. Dana 44 no clips. The axles are held in by the outer bearings, and backing plates of the brakes.

It's unfortunate you're on the wrong coast. I have a completely rebuilt 3.90 unit with Twin Traction.

The limited slip unit must be a 4-series (3.92 and up numerically). The ring gear flange is in a different location than a 3 series (3.73 and down)
