Dick Steinkamp has been de-throned as the best eBay listing writer. Matthew's listing for his '56 President two-door has surpassed them all. If you check this listing, be sure to take the 9-minute, 45-second video demonstration ride with him.

Actually, Frank Ambrogio's e-bay ads for the two '56 Golden Hawks he recently sold were my favorites:!: (I almost bought one!)

Frank even videoed both Hawks being loaded for shipment.....The video's are still on You-Tube!

Agreed - I think Matt made the ad with the idea, "how can I do this where there would be no reason for someone to try and contact me because there is something they have a question about..." Good luck.

Paul you have to be kidding, go back relook at the add Dick did on both race cars we sold as of late and because of his ads both cars sold for high dollars, I think you should have given more though before posting that with that first statement, just my opinion of course.

Thanks, Paul.. In giving credit where it's due, Dick's ebay ads are what taught me how to do a good presentation. The car is far from perfect, and I don't want the new owner to have any surprises.

Mat's ad sold me a 1963 Lark that I couldn't be happier with!! And Dick's ad made me want to mortgage my house to buy that 1963 Wagonaire. Sounds like a draw in my case!
Great ads by both masters.

That is a fantastic example of how to advertise a car on ebay. I like the fact that almost any question a person would have was answered and you could bid without fear of nasty surprises.

Good luck Matthew in making her "well bought and well sold". Nice to know I don't have to leave town!
Best wishes in your new venture.
Cheers, Bill

Very well done. I enjoyed the ride especially when the car overtook other cars on the road. Shows the performance is right there. Fun add and informative.

Lovely car. Great ad! I'd prefer the yellow color combination though. The black would look good with a bubble gum machine on top!;)

I was interested at first in only reading the ad but by the time I was done I wanted to buy the car ;).

I've always contended that an auction ad needs to pinpoint all of the bad as well as all of the good. As Matthew says, no surprises satisfies everybody.

I'm surprised at how well the auction is starting out. Two days in, and already close to hitting the reserve. I'm anxious to see how it plays out.

This one was a no sale at $9,150 and just relisted by the dealer/seller...

That one has been relisted about a dozen times. A nicer car than mine, but mine has less doors.

My reserve is more than $1000 less than that one's $9100 final bid.

That 4 door has been on ebay for weeks. At some point do you give up and say it is not worth what I want or just keep relisting hoping a buyer shows up?

Rats, the listing for this '56 two-door isn't showing any of its photos. All say "photo not found" on the listing (at least it's so via my eBay connection) and also say "CLICK for photos" which takes me nowhere.

Same for me. Matt, you better check that out.

Photobucket failed for me once when I ran a car that got a lot of hits. Seems that it exceeds Photobucket's band width requirement or something. In the middle of the ad I had to switch to another on line photo album, moved all the pictures over, and relinked them from the new album to the ad.

I have not had any problems with Flickr which is what I use now.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I did some digging and apparently there are a lot of people having the same issue with photobucket today/this evening. I've not been thrilled with photobucket lately.. Hopefully the pictures will be back up soon, but this certainly puts me in a tough spot. I won't be using photobucket again.

I can't edit the ad at this point. I'm in the middle of uploading the photos to another host and will link that to the ad. That's the best I can do, short of starting over. And that isn't happening.

Hey Matt, did your photo account go out. The pictures aren't showing up in the listing. FYI, Bob

Photobucket is having issues. I can't find a phone number to call, but I've emailed their support department though I haven't gotten a response. I dumped the pictures on flickr and put a link at the bottom of the ad since I can't edit the ad itself. Short of starting the auction over and linking the pics from another host website, there's not much else I can do from my end, sadly.

I lowered the reserve to less than I have in the car. We'll see what happens tomorrow night.

Hopefully it'll go higher than the reserve and good luck, Bob

That 4 door is full of lies in the ad listing. It has been for mostly 35 years in Tucson last going out as part of an estate sale. It has at least 4 owners that I know of. It is a neat car with overdrive, but not worth what the Ebay owner/dealer probably thinks. Last I knew before all the ebay listings the car was at a Mecum Scottsdale auction probably 4 or 5 years ago. The will probably keep listing until a buyer that does not do his homework shows up and pays more than the car is worth in hopes of making a killing.

Matt's car made BaT...

That should be good for a last minute "bump"...pictures or no pictures.

Thanks Dick. BaT did a post on my '52 Stude pickup when it was on ebay a year ago. They seem like a good bunch.

Reserve has been met and the auction ends at 9 tonight, eastern time. I wonder where the car's new home will be. :)
