  • Steering: 50 Champion Idler Arm (526327)

In my previous post about rebuilding the front end of Dads car, Bob Kapteyn mentioned the possible need to replace the idler arm (P/N: 526327). Did a little research and this part doesn't appear on any of the typical vendor web sites. So I started researching and a previous thread on this forum suggests the possibility of re-building one of these.

    So, I have 2 questions.

    1. Does anyone have a NOS piece that they would sell?

    2. If I wanted to get our existing part rebuilt, what would that entail? Is there a kit for it like the bell crank on my Hawk? If there is no kit, is there a vendor out there that does this type of work?

    Thanks
    Wayne

First, inspect the idler arm closely (wiggle steering wheel while watching for lost motion). This area had some upgrades because of flexing at the mounting. Send me a PM on the forum with your email addy and I will send you a pdf of Service Letter #834.
If the idler arm does need rebuilding, I don't have an answer for you other than remove it and take to a machinist for a look at.
