  • Snow driving!!!!!!

I haven't started a good thread in awhile... Winter is here, Time to see who still drives in the snow!! Now.. Don't judge my photo, we do not get to much snow here in Oklahoma!!!!! But the temps fell, roads froze, and we had a decent little dusting falling from the skies!! So I took old grandpa out for spin!!

Anyone else take their cars out in the bad cold weather??

And no.. the salt trucks haven't made it out yet!

    -Joe

My "driveway" is gravel, overlain by a couple of inches of dead leaves. If they are frozen, the 5 to 10% grade home is difficult to navigate rear wheel drive vehicles. So I don't drive when it could be icy, or the leaves could be wet.

That's the beautiful thing about Calif. 76 Miles and only 1 to 2 Hours and you COULD be Home to Warm and Sunny Westchester, CA 2 miles from LAX from Frazier Park !

I've only had my Lark out once so far this winter. It was yesterday and the temp rose to around 60 in the afternoon. I just had to take my Stude for a spin. It will NEVER be exposed to snow. So I guess it's going to stay in my garage for most of the winter. The only exception will be is there isn't any road salt on the road.

I posted earlier about my 7 hour commute in a snow storm here in the Portland area in my '61 Champ truck. With all the hills we have here I was amazed I made it home. That truck is a real "Champ".

Actually, my '56 Parkview climbs hills in the snow better than my friend's Land Rovers do. However, she stops at the end of the driveway and we took the Toyota T100 (who couldn't get up the hill worth beans either) into town. I'm going to have to figure something else out though as the Toyota was sold this year. Thankfully it isn't too big a deal as I'm not staying full-time in Fawn Lodge anymore. Oak Run doesn't get anywhere near the snow. Ah well, may as well not worry about that till I get the old girl running again.

By the by, nice to hear from you again Joe.

I drive everything in any weather.
It's not that awfully difficult to take a hose & flush away the salt from under the fenders, done before - can be done again...
Would I bother owning a Studebaker just for show of? Nope!

There are a ton of people who garage their cars year around. I love driving mine! The looks people gave me while the snow was falling was priceless!!!

Not to hijack the thread at all......but, if someone here in New England wants a pair 200 miles snow tires, I'll meet you 1/2 way on a good price...

Not up in this part of the country, they've been putting salt down since November.
